   WHAT'S A COCKAPOO?

 We breed only first generation where the healthier hybrid vigor is at it's maximum. 

Cockapoo puppies are the hybrid cross between the American Cocker Spaniel & the poodle.  They've been known in the United States for almost 60 yrs.  They are also very popular in Australia and Sweden.   Hybrids, including Cockapoos, are the intentional, planned breeding of two purebred lines. 

Cockapoos have become popular because they generally combine the outgoing, loving personality of the cocker spaniel with the low-shedding, low-dander qualities of the poodle.  The poodle parent also contributes intelligence and a tendency to be very active, resulting in a loving, intelligent, energetic and agile dog that sheds very little or not at all. 

  The advantages of the cockapoo puppy crossbreed are:

  • a low to non shedding, hypoallergenic, soft, curling coat
  • above average intelligence
  • playful & spirited behavior
  • easily trainable
  • healthier hybrid vigor

    

     Things to keep in mind while searching for your new Cockapoo!

 
1. Beware of cash only.  Sure some breeders do not prefer personal checks and probably because they've received a few bad ones.  They should always offers other means of payment.  If you should have a problem with your pup, at least you'll have a proof of purchase.
 
2.  You should always be offered a Health Guarantee.  Do not accept a Health Guarantee that is only for a few days or weeks.
 
3.  How many dogs does the breeder have?  Are they capable of giving them enough socialization and care?  Caged dogs bred for profit is certainly not something I'd wish to support.
 
4.  How many types of breeds does the breeder offer?  1 or 2 is acceptable and manageable but more than that is questionable.
 
5. Never meet a breeder somewhere to pick up your puppy.  It is extremely important to see where and how the pup was raised.
 
6.  Ask for multiple pictures of sires, dams and puppies if they are not posted on the site.
 
7. When visiting a breeder check for signs of properly cared for pets and puppies.  Cleanliness should be a priority!   If I wouldn't take my shoes off and walk around barefoot  than I would not buy from that breeder.  Do the pups have adequate room?  Is their drinking water clean?
 
8. If you buy from a breeder with any of the above mentioned faults you are enabling them to continue to breed & sell puppies.  Don't buy a puppy because you feel sorry for it.  Better for you to purchase a dog from your local shelter or another breeder.
9. It is important to know that adult dogs can be well socialized but not immediately accepting of strangers.  Moms are protective of their puppies.
 
10. Disease can be carried on your clothes & shoes.  Do not visit more than one kennel without returning home to change clothes, shoes & washing your hands thoroughly. 
 
11.  Be respectful of breeders who won't allow visitors until the puppies have had at least their first set of shots.  Do not expect to bring a dog you currently own with you to a kennel & be allowed to remove them from your vehicle.
 
12. Never buy a puppy when the breeder allows you to take it home before 8 weeks of age.  Most states require the puppy to be 8 wks of age.  Those breeders are worried about a quick turnover and this would be an indication of the lack of care the pup has received

*Removal of dewclaws is done on tiny puppies between 3-5 days after birth. Whoever does the removal must be careful to take the second joint out to prevent the toe and nail from growing back.  It is a very painful procedure and it is our decision not to amputate the dew claws of our puppies
